Default First look at this web site............

I had been contacted by Cory Evans requesting old pictures for www.biloxidragway.com.....I have a collection of approx. 200 pictures I made at old Biloxi Drag Strip during the hey day....I have more pictures that Charles Meeks provided me from his collection...The last 22 pictures shown n the site are from my collection.....After 11 years of trying, I finally got Charles Meeks, the former operator of Biloxi and his former announcer, Gerald Adcock, to come and attend the 2012 ODRR....After the Legends Dinner on Friday night, Charles and I sat in the lobby of the motel until 3 am talking about old Biloxi and the great races that were put
on back then..........

Greatly appreciated Sol, if you have advice make the website better or any additional pictures, stories, in the future, please share them if you want to. Also can email the restored pictures back to you if that can help in anyway. Was able to come up with alot of the exact dates of the pictures sent because much of the results exist for the races through research. Which is also often being added to the website.

I started the website in 2006 and it's been fun to piece all this together, this place has such a unique drag racing history, and many great drag racers involved. Thanks for your time and effort to share irreplaceable images.

Also have a facebook page showing the whole history of the strip like a book. http://www.facebook.com/biloxidragway

Plan to put a record page on the website in the near future.

Cory

Default Old Biloxi...Some things you never forget

My biggest thrill was on a Sunday afternoon race when my wife in her station wagon know as "Teacher's Pet" had to run Big Joe Teuton from Houma, La. driving a 62 Chevy with the name "The Farmer" on the driver's door for class eliminator....Anne won the race by inches...I captured the start of the race with my camera......

At a night race another time, I was standing behind the starting line making pictures.....S. T. Cooper was in his 57 Chevy known as Jiffy 11
in the starting line just in front of me.....Cooper and the car in the other
lane staged and both brought theit RPMs up in anticipation of the XMAS tree starting down.....BIG PROBLEM....Cooper had his car in reverse and when the light came down and he released the clutch pedal, the car shot backwards rather than heading doen track.....He almost ran over me....
Missed me by a fraction of inches............

Memories are made of happenings such as this.............SOL
