More details have come to light on Da'Shawn Hand's Saturday DUI arrest.

The Alabama senior defensive lineman was asleep in his parked car and was not driving at the time of his arrest, according to a report from The Tuscaloosa News. Hand was arrested on charges of driving under the influence Saturday morning in Tuscaloosa and was released on $1,000 bond.

Hand was found in the driver's seat of a parked car with the headlights on and the vehicle cranked in a parking lot near Alabama's campus, according to The Tuscaloosa News' report.

Alabama state law deemed Hand to be in "constructive possession" of the vehicle. And although he wasn't driving and the vehicle was parked, the keys being in the car was what triggered the arrest and resulted in the charges of driving under the influence.

This could change the discipline Hand receives from Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban, as this was the first for the senior. But Saban voiced his displeasure earlier this week.

"This type of behavior is not acceptable and we are disappointed in Da'Shawn’s actions," Saban said in a statement Saturday. "We are still gathering information and will evaluate what we need to do in terms of appropriate discipline as we move forward, so better choices and decisions can be made in the future."

A preseason All-SEC first-team selection, Hand registered 21 tackles and two sacks as a reserve a season ago. Now entering his final year in Tuscaloosa, the former five-star recruit was likely to step into the Crimson Tide’s starting lineup at the defensive end position.
